HISTORY OF WOMEN IN COMMERCIAL REAL ESTATE NASHVILLE

Women In Commercial Real Estate Nashville was an idea first discussed in October of 1991. Armed with the concept of an organization to encourage networking among women in commercial real estate, the first meeting was held in 1991. With 13 women in attendance, at the February 1992 meeting, we decided upon Women In Commercial Real Estate Nashville as a name for our organization, and elected our first officers: Chuck Collins, President; Trina Ralls Williams, Program Chair; Leslie Pomeroy, Secretary; and Pat Briley, Treasurer.

Our growth has been enhanced each year as we refine and/or add new programs. This is evidenced by electing Chuck Collins as our first President, when Community Affairs was established as a committee; Pat Briley's term produced our first newsletter and The Connection; Trina Williams ushered in the The Economic Forum; Lee Anne Parham's Presidency brought about the first educational seminar for CEU credit; Paula Cooper Buffa led the way to supporting organizations that recognize the achievements of women; Cindy Morse implemented scholarship awards; the Women In Commercial Real Estate Nashville logo was a product of Oleita Norton's term in office; Women In Commercial Real Estate Nashville was incorporated under the leadership of Harriet Malone; Linda Martin hosted a visit from Women In Commercial Real Estate Nashville National who heavily lobbied our chapter for national affiliation; YCAP became a long term commitment for Women In Commercial Real Estate Nashville under Diane Adcock's administration; Mylinda Vick lead the way through the first major bylaw revisions; Mary Hawkins linked Women In Commercial Real Estate Nashville to Belmont for the first Annual Forum of the Center for Entrepreneurship; Darla Hamby established the reserve fund committee; the retreat was the brainchild of Barbara Sharp Milbourn's term; Magdalene House was the recipient of major funding and in-kind contributions during the term of Diane Dodoro; Tracy Ayers initiated new member networking events; and finally, with Brittany Lorenzi, we have our own website.

Today, Women In Commercial Real Estate Nashville of Nashville continues to be a visionary organization, creating meaningful new opportunities for our members each year. We are a ground-breaking organization, taking the lead in areas such as the Economic Forum and The Connection, inviting other commercial real estate organizations to participate in these events as co-sponsors. We offer our members a beneficial and responsive organization, and take pride in the fact that our membership continues to willingly give of their time and resources to further the growth of Women In Commercial Real Estate Nashville.
